What an AI receptionist actually does on a home-services line
The phone rings while the truck is on a roof. Or at 8:40 p.m. Or during the one lunch you tried to take. Someone else in town picked up. That is the whole problem.
Alpine Autopilot installs Anna as an AI employee on that line. This note is what reception actually is — and what it is not.
The job is the call
AI reception means inbound voice, 24/7, under your brand and your numbers. She qualifies. She handles the questions you already have on a printout by the counter. She books against the live calendar you gave us. She hands the turn back when a person should take it.
That is a different object from a chatbot. A chatbot waits on a website. Your buyer is calling.
Voice and text are one spine
If she calls back and they do not pick up, she texts. Same number. Same context. We do not sell SMS as a later add-on. Speed-to-lead lives on that same spine: a new lead comes in, she dials in seconds, then texts if the call does not connect.
Outbound still needs documented prior express written consent. Reception does not magically make a purchased list legal. Read compliance.
What we will not write here
We will not quote a pickup rate. We will not paste a review. We will not tell you how many shops we run. The mechanism is the claim: she answers, she books the calendar that is actually open, she hands off.
If that is the line you are losing, book a call. Bring the after-hours number. Intake is where we decide whether to build.
